History of jewelry--In ancient time people decorated themselves with jewels made of animals' bone, animal teeth, shell or stone. Although jewelry was initially created for more practical uses, such as wealth storage and pinning clothes together, in recent times it has been used almost exclusively for decoration, birthday gift, and very common in cultural practice, engagement ring, wedding ring of gold and diamond wore on the bride's finger by the groom during the wedding ceremony. Chinese jewelry--The earliest culture to begin making jewelry in Asia was the Chinese around 5,000 years ago. Chinese jewelry designs were very religion-orientated and famous in making Buddhist statue for symbols of reverence, a fact which remains to this day. The Chinese used silver in their jewelry more often than gold, and decorated it with their favorite blue color. However, Chinese preferred jade more than any other stone, they fashioned it using diamonds, inlaid or hemmed it with gold, or sculptured the jade into figurine or Chinese characters, especially the character "fook" which means good luck or prosperity, is very much fond of, a unique gift to wish someone good health and good business.
